The project, which included operations for students and faculty, clinic support, collaborative learning areas with rounds/seminar rooms, public/waiting areas, administrative/staff space, and mechanical/electrical maintenance space, aimed to create a top facility in oral science education and outreach and provide an overall positive patient experience that is welcoming, calming, and stress-reducing. The flexible, supportive learning environments offer multiple configurations that encourage collaboration. Designed for efficiency and openness for patients, students, faculty, and staff, the clinical environment provides easy access for faculty members to quickly assess a student’s needs. The operators, which also provide a high level of accessibility, accommodate room for assistants and additional equipment and features elements such as toe-in for privacy, over-the patient delivery for the dentist, chair-mounted dental light, and technology at the side millwork or behind the chair.
